He will stand and shepherd them in the strength of the Lord, in the majestic name of the Lord his God. They will live securely, for then his greatness will extend to the ends of the earth. Micah 5:4
These words are the promise of God to a people who are wrapped up in anxiety. There is no peace. Instead, there is the anticipation of a stronger neighbouring nation holding them under their thumb. Today, we do not face the exact same kind of disruption, but we can still feel like our experiences, circumstances, or stressors surround and besiege us. The people of Micah's time were anticipating a ruler who would shepherd them. We understand this to be Jesus Christ - the good shepherd. He is able to be the peace that the disquieted are seeking. This week's sermon explores how we can anticipate the ways that Jesus brings peace into our lives.
