“I hope that tomorrow will be a warm, sunny day.” It’s a statement that reveals one’s desire for the future, but this kind of hope doesn’t ensure that the next day’s weather will match one’s preference.
In 1 Peter 1:3, we learn that believers have been given a “living hope.” This kind of hope is not just wishful thinking. It’s inseparably linked to the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The Christian’s hope is firmly anchored on the promise of an amazing inheritance in heaven, and the salvation of one’s soul. A “living hope” gives believers a sense of confidence and security about their future in this life and beyond. It empowers and emboldens, and encourages them, even when life’s circumstances include suffering, difficulty, and pain. Praise God for the power of hope that’s rooted in the resurrection of Jesus.
