Jeremiah 33:14-16

“Look, the days are coming... when I will fulfill the good promise that I have spoken..." Jeremiah 33:14

Advent is a season of expectation and hope.  But we do not hope in vacant ideas or empty promises.  Instead, we anchor our hope in something that we can look forward to on the horizon.  These words that were recorded by the prophet Jeremiah are God's reminder that he is going make good on the word that he gave to his people.  There would be a time in the future when the promised Messiah would bring the kind of righteous rule that the people longed for; a safe and secure future where the people's identity take on the qualities of the Messiah himself.
