But you, Lord, my Lord, deal kindly with me for your name’s sake; because your faithful love is good, rescue me. Ps 109:21
As we continue in exploring the Psalm through this summer, we remember that these words help us in our own prayers and expressions to God. Sometimes, we lack the words and our not sure how to express some of our deepest feelings to our God. In this Psalm, David writes about a circumstance where he is so wounded by another that he cries out to God, but in ways that we do not typically associate with prayer. We can identify times when we would wish that justice could be seen to be done in the midst of our betrayal and hurt. This week's text leads us through expressing ourselves honestly to God, while maintaining faith and trust in him to restore and heal.
