Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
We move back to the Old Testament as we proceed through the season of Epiphany. We remember that this is a season when we look for the ways that Jesus, the promised Messiah, is revealed to us so that we may see him more clearly and follow him more closely. In our text this week, the people of God are troubled about the state of their lives and in the ways that they are trying to return back to God. The problem is that they don’t feel that they know the way to do it. In God’s mercy and providence, he shows them the way that they are to live and exist. God’s perfect will is revealed for the people. As we live in the days after these words, we are able to see how Jesus Christ perfectly exhibited and exampled God’s perfect will. In this, we have God’s will revealed in Jesus’ flesh and blood example set before us.
