The kingdom of heaven is like treasure, buried in a field, that a man found and reburied. Then in his joy he goes and sells everything he has and buys that field. Matthew 13:44
This brief parable highlights the extent and influence that the kingdom of heaven has over the one who identifies it correctly. The transaction of this story depicts a person who happens upon something of great value and is willing to let go of everything for the sake of possessing and owning it. This action is spurred out of the joy of discovery and of holding this treasure as his own. In the same way, each follower of Christ must evaluate and consider how much joy the rule of Christ brings them and what they are willing to sacrifice so that the kingdom can properly held to.
