“I am saying this so that no one will deceive you with arguments that sound reasonable.” - Colossians 2:4
Paul has taken great pains to ensure that the Colossian church has a focus on Jesus as the only one who they can depend on for salvation and life. Now, we explore the primary rationale for this important letter. The Colossians were being drawn into arguments that would take them away from following Jesus. Our text this week zeros in on the ways that genuine followers of Christ can avoid being deceived by arguments from all around us; arguments that sound reasonable and have a ring of some sort of truth. There is a vigilance that each follower of Jesus can exercise to avoid these deceptions.
