“…your life is hidden with Christ…” Col. 3:3
Last week, we examined those aspects and ideas of the world that threaten our own faith in Jesus Christ. As a corrective measure against these influences, Paul encourages the Colossian church to seek Christ; to seek the things above, to set their minds on things above. As we set our minds and hearts on Christ Jesus, the one who sits at the right hand of the Father, we come to realize the reason that this is necessary. We are encountered with the truth, that the one who believes in Jesus Christ has, in fact, died to themselves, and now experiences a life that is hidden in Christ. Consequently, we must look and evaluate those ways by which we can set our minds on the things above, rather than the earthly influences that take us away from our life in Christ.
